Animal Therapy
Corvid Dawn Animal Therapy is a unique opportunity to get close to the natural world and spend time with our permanent resident birds who really enjoy human encounters, we also have all sorts of animals that enjoy human interactions.
These animals are all rescues, they have all had a very tough beginning in life and have been given an opportunity to thrive and grow at Corvid Dawn Wild Bird Rescue.
Some of these animals have had to overcome some traumas and cruelty so we give them the choice every time if they wish to participate in the interaction, but this is what makes the bond even stronger between patients and children, they choose you, so it's a very real and genuine relationship.
We can tailor sessions to a family or an organization, so a phone consultation is required so we know exactly what you would like to achieve and if we have a suitable programme for you.
If you are a School or Neuro diverse School, or care home we recommend a trial session for an afternoon to initially introduce the animals into their new environment.
Animal assisted therapy can improve fine and gross motor skills and coordination. That’s because it stimulates all the patient’s senses, from sight to hearing to touch.
Activities like petting, feeding, or brushing the dog improves control of certain movements, especially in the hands and arms. Animal Therapy can help all sorts of conditions
and offers so many benefits such as:
Motivation to care for the animal, to go out and see the animal, and to give the animal happiness. Humans have sought out comfort in animals for thousands of years, it's in our natural makeup, which is why it comes naturally to us. Animals help us live in the present moment and connect us to nature, to a non verbal language and emotion that we might never normally tap into.
Animal therapy should be used alongside a mental health program, though animals are fantastic creatures for aiding the healing process, AAT is not a form of therapy to be
used in isolation.
